The look no further! I've compiled a list of the some books you should really check out if you want to have an October full of nightmares!
Gore is so not my thing, though, so don't expect any of that here. I'm a fan of the unsettling psychological horror, the stuff that plays on your mind for hours, days and weeks after you've finished reading it. The stuff that creeps into your dreams and gives you nightmares.
I'm a fan of the unknown, the unsettling and the almighty unseen. And that's what you'll find here!

Ghostly, gothic, haunting and menacing, this book reeled me in and didn’t let me go until I was done.
Fans of this one will also enjoy the psychological torment of The Moth Diaries by Rachel Klein and The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield which is similarly beautifully written and has a similar gothic feel

A fast-paced psychological thriller, to be read in one sitting, this will certainly leave you shocked, disturbed and a little spooked too.
. Don’t be fooled by the pretty pink cover. There is nothing light and fluffy about this book!

Complex, creepy and all consuming...
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is dark, haunting, atmospheric and eerie. You may not even think so while you’re reading it but it will play on your mind for a while after you’ve finished, and you may have nightmares about creepy bathtubs and scary mirrors.

a study of the psychological torment and mental disintegration of a teenage girl as she tries to come to terms with the suicide of her father.
I don’t often get spooked by books, but this one is very gothic, chilling and haunting.
What I Said:
This is a total page turner, a fast-paced murder mystery, with a great female protagonist, and a wonderful romance to boot.
This book is interesting in the sense that Derting has written chapters from the point of view of the killer, and it certainly adds a chilling aspect to the book...Reading the thoughts and motivations of the killer really added a new sinister dimension to proceedings. These chapters definitely left me feeling spooked and sent shivers down my spine.
What I said:
There is a sense of foreboding throughout the book and I got shivers down my spine as I learnt of the horrors suffered by the boys as they struggle to survive at the hands of their captor.
When I first picked up The Long Weekend I imagined it to be a haunted house story, but what lies inside these pages is much more realistic and much scarier than any ghost could be.
What I Said:
A highly enjoyable collection, this is the perfect book to dip into over Halloween.
