Summary from publishers website:

Teen vampire action and heart-pounding romance continue as the Drake family faces a new vampire with a 200-year-old grudge.

It has been centuries since Isabeau St. Croix survived the French Revolution. Now she’s made her way back to the living and must face the ultimate test by confronting the evil British lord who turned her into a vampire and left her buried for two hundred years. That’s if she can control her affection for Logan Drake, a vampire whose bite is as sweet as the revenge she seeks . . .

Blood Feud, the second instalment in the Drake Chronicles,  is  a fun, action-packed and enjoyable read.  It picks up right where the first book left off, but this time our narrators are Logan Drake, the fashion loving Drake brother,  and Isabeau St.Croix, who we were briefly introduced to at the end of My Love Lies Bleeding.

I have to say I warmed to Isabeau straight away.  I loved learning of her extensive background and the historical aspects of her story. The flashbacks to her life in  Paris during the French Revolution were well done, and because of this I felt that I got to know Isabeau better than any of the other characters.  When you find out all that she’s been through, you’ll come to understand why she’s such a fierce warrior, very motivated and driven, and more than a match for ladies man, Logan.  Here, Isabeau teams up with the Drakes to fight against their old enemy Montmarte, who is still fighting to take Solange as his Vampire bride, while there is also a new enemy on the horizon in the shape of  the evil Greyhaven who turned Isabeau into a vampire, and then left her to rot for two hundred years. Cause for revenge? I think so!

I enjoyed this book much more than the first book, although I now realise that while the first book was laden with characters, and quite confusing at times, it was laying the foundations for the rest of the series, so in that sense, it served it’s purpose.  There is also a helpful  Drake family tree at the beginning of this book, so no more confusion over names! The writing style flows more easily here, and throughout the numerous action scenes, Harvey keeps things light-hearted.  There’s a lot of humour in the book too, and Logan Drake continues to be witty even in the face of adversity,  so things never get too serious.

Overall, this was a fun instalment in the Drake Chronicles, and I look forward to reading more.  The next book in the chronicles Out For Blood  (November 2010) will be told from the point of view of a Helios-Ra agent, and while this one does sound pretty interesting, I hope that we get to meet Isabeau and Logan again, and learn a little more about those other hot vampire brothers too!
